Washington DC is the capital city of the United States. Sitting between the states of Virginia and Maryland. The city is about 8 hours south of New York on the eastern side of the U.S. Many of America's landmarks are here including the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, The White House, Congress and many musuems. To see all of the sights a week or more is recommended. The best way to travel is the Subway (which is called the Metro). Washington DC is one of my favourite places to visit in the U.S.

A one 1 minute video of DC, it should take about 1 minute to download on a dial up modem

One of the many Metro stations. The great thing is the metro runs out into many residental areas so you can stay out of the city area (where hotels can be very expensive) and be in the city within 20 mins.

Union Station. This is Washington DC's main raliway station and connects to the rest of the country. The metro also connects underneath Union Station. It is only a few blocks from the Capitol building so it is close to the sights.

The Jefferson Memorial is located on the banks of the Potamac. It is one of many memorials in DC to remember past presidents.

The Capitol Building is just down the mall from the Washington monument. This is where the U.S federal government is based. This building is very well known and has been used in many movies.

Arlington Cemetery is located just outside the main part of Washington DC. The cemetery is a burial place for military personnel and also has monuments for other events such as the challenger shuttle. The tomb of the unknown soldier is also here.

The Lincoln memorial is dedicated in the memory of Abraham Lincoln. It is located between the Washington Monument and Arlington Cemetery.
