Welcome to my home town of Tamworth. It is located about 250 miles (400km) north of Sydney, Australia. Tamworth is one of the largest non metro cities in New South Wales and has about 40000 residents.

Tamworth is a major shopping and industrial centre for the area and is a major point for residents in the surrounding area. It also has a very strong agricultural trade including poultry, wheat, cattle, sheep and other crops.

Tamworth is also known as the Country Music Capital and hosts the Australian Country music awards and the country music festival each January.

Tamworth has a web site that shows the different attractions and assets of the city. One of the more interesting features is the virtual tours of the city. The site is www.tamworthonline.com

The town clock. One of Tamworth's most well known landmarks. The town clock works perfectly and is attached on top of the main post office in downtown Tamworth.

Peel River: The river that runs through the middle of the city. Normally it is a shallow river but in times of extended rainfall the river can flood and can cut the city into two.

World Record line dancing: Tamworth has held the world record for the most linedancers in one location. They have held this record for at least the last 5 years and they break the record every year.

Festival Time: In late January thousands of country music fans make the trip to Tamworth for the country music festival. The city puts on concerts, linedancing and anything country and it seems to get bigger every year.

Bicentenial Park: Built in celebration of Australia's bicentenary it is one of Tamworth's most visited parks. It features granite sculptures, duck pond, concert stage and wooded landscaping.
